I sort of took a break because of school exams etc. Then spring break happened and I continued my break…but I’m back! With lots of food! But I broke it into parts to not overwhelm ya know?
Red Wine-Braised Lamb Shanks with Sauteed Farro
I salted and peppered the lamb shanks, haha. Well I also browned the shanks, but my mom and the pressure cooker did the majority of the work here.

Dim Sum:
Taro Balls. I can’t remember what these are called. But they’re pretty much taro with some seasonings deep fried in this awesome flaky crust thing. Try them sometime.

Tofu-wrapped things. Yikes. I have a feeling a lot of this food is going to be ending in things. Anyway. I actually don’t even remember what this is. All I remember is that its wrapped in tofu wrappers.

Shu-mai. Well I remember at least one. These are little dumplings (I think made with pork) that are steamed. Good with hoisin sauce.

Dino-eggs. These aren’t actually called dino eggs, but I suppose they look like them. Alex calls them dino eggs and the name stuck. This was the first time I tried these I think. They have some savory filling wrapped in a fried mochi-esque dough.

Steamed Rice pack-things. Oh gosh here come those things again. No pun intended.

Fried dough ball with crunchy outside things. I seriously have no idea what this is. I think there’s shrimp on the inside, but that’s about all I know (someone needs to brush up on their dimsum knowledge huh?)

Steamed Cha-siu bao - I know this one!! This is pretty much a standard bao (bun) with cha-siu (Chinese bbq) pork on the inside. The pork is a little sweet which complements the slight sweetness of the bao itself.

Next up, housesitting food!
I house sat for a family friend for a couple days and naturally I had to eat, SO, after poking around the kitchen, I found some supplies to make a little something something with.
Whole Wheat Penne Carbonara with Sauteed Chicken, Arugula and Parmesan:

Fluffy Chocolate Chip Pancakes:

I’m stackin’. Haha.
Part 1 is finished! Part 2 finishes off spring break and a little bit from the return back.
